EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU will receive yet another independent investigation regarding how it handled the Larry Nassar scandal.

The Board of Trustees decided Friday to hire another law firm to conduct the investigation.

This is the third investigation the university has done. There was an investigation done in 2016 and another one done in 2017.

The Board of Trustees said they will hire the law firm "McDermott Will and Emery" to investigate who knew what, when they knew it, where the university's processes broke down and how it handles sexual assault claims across campus.

The law firm will then issue a public report of its findings.

Two other law firms were hired to investigate when the Nassar scandal first broke, but they only submitted an oral report, and MSU officials said it was confidential.

Trustees said this time the findings will be in a written report that they will make public.

And not only will they make this report public, but they will also be including documents from the previous investigations.

At this time, it is not known when the investigation will begin or how much it will cost.

In regards to the investigation, Attorney General Dana Nessel said MSU lacks the credibility to conduct a legitimate investigation. She said she believes the only way the university will regain the public's trust is to wave its privilege and disclose everything they have about Nassar to her office.
