MSU: Reports of illness at Kellogg Center

Posted

Michigan State University officials and the Ingham County Health Department are investigating reports of illness from people who visited the Kellogg Center between February 18 and 20. The people who were affected reported gastro-intestinal symptoms that last two to three days.

According to Jason Cody, a MSU spokesperson, MSU officials are helping county investigators contact individuals who attended events at the Kellogg. They are also providing information to the county regarding the food that was served during those three days.

The cause of the illnesses has not been determined. The kitchens at Kellogg, and the State Room restaurant are closed “for a thorough cleaning” said Cody.

There is no evidence to suggest that people visiting other locations on campus have been affected. No other dining halls or restaurants on campus have been closed.

The Ingham County Health Department is leading the public health investigation. They can be contacted at (517) 887-4311.
