EAST LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - A journalism professor at Michigan State University has been cleared in a sexual harassment investigation.

Sue Carter was cleared following a complaint by the university’s Office of Institutional Equity.

FOX 47 News spoke to Carter when the investigation began in January after a former student filed a complaint

Ellen Fedon-Keyt, now a psychologist in Dearborn, filed the complaint claiming Carter drew her into an inappropriate relationship in the 1990’s.

The investigation found Fedon-Keyt was not enrolled in a class with Carter at the time of the relationship.

Carter released this statement Saturday night:

“I am pleased that Michigan State University’s Office of Institutional Integrity has cleared me of allegations made in this hurtful, unwarranted, and concerted attack that came immediately after I resigned in protest as Faculty Athletic Representative over the university’s handling of the Larry Nassar crimes and the brave survivors.
The support of family, friends, faculty, and students has been very gratifying.”
