LANSING, Mich. — A former MSU med student was bound over on Tuesday to circuit court on all charges.

On October 8, 2018, MSU police arrested Michael Phinn, of Fowlerville, on reports of sexual assault.

And on Tuesday, January 15, Phinn was in 54B District Court in East Lansing for his preliminary exam.

He was facing 10 charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct for alleged sexual assaults made when he was a medical resident at the MSU Clinical Center.

Two additional counts have been added since October making the total number of charges 12.

According to the State News, two witnesses took the stand and gave statements with details about his misconduct. Details included Phinn rubbing himself when talking to the women, groping the breast of a witness, even exposing himself to one.

Besides working for MSU, he also treated patients at Sparrow Hospital, and at one-time, had an EMT license.

Phinn was suspended from MSU when the allegations were brought against him on September 25.

After the incident was brought to light, Sparrow Health System released the following statement:
"THESE ARE SERIOUS AND CONCERNING ALLEGATIONS AND SPARROW HEALTH SYSTEM PLEDGES ITS FULL COOPERATION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES," before putting Phinn on unpaid leave.
