EAST LANSING, Mich. — If the Michigan State Spartans beat Texas Tech this Saturday in the NCAA Final Four game, a MSU flag will fly over the Lubbock, Texas City Hall.
The deal is all thanks to a friendly wager between East Lansing's Mayor, Mark Meadows, and Dan Pope, the mayor of Lubbock. The defeated team's hometown will fly the winning team's flag outside of their city hall building for one day and will have to post a photo of it for confirmation.
The flag will be supplied by the winning team.
However, it doesn't end there. When the flag comes down, it will also be signed by the defeated team's mayor with a congratulatory message and mailed back to the winning team's mayor.
The Spartans face off against the Raiders Saturday night in Minneapolis, Minnesota. News 10 has a crew with the team in Minneapolis, and will bring you updates throughout the weekend.
