The chairman of Michigan State University's Board of Trustees has resigned from his other job in Governor Rick Snyder's office.

MLive reports Brian Breslin is stepping down from his position as director of appointments for Snyder and Kristen Beltzer will take over.

Breslin took a leave of absence back in February to focus on his trustee role at the university as it dealt with the fallout from the Larry Nassar scandal.

He announced in January he would not seek another term on the board.
