FLINT, Mich. — The woman accusing former MSU basketball star Mateen Cleaves of rape was in court Wednesday for the fourth day of witness testimony in the criminal trial.
She detailed what happened the night she ended up in a Mundy Township motel room with Cleaves.
"I wanted to go home. I didn't want to be there," woman said.
A statement that was heard from the now 27-year-old woman over and over as she walked the jury through the night in September of 2015. She says Cleaves sexually assaulted her.
She met the basketball star at a charity golf tournament earlier that day after they got drinks at a bar with a group of the woman's colleagues, including her boyfriend. They left together, supposedly headed back to the golf course, but she says Cleaves drove her to the Knights Inn Motel in Mundy Township.
"You kissed him back. What were your options at the point?" The woman was asked in court.
" I didn't have any," She said.
"In terms of fighting did you believe you had the physical will to fend him off?" she was asked.
"No," she said.
Video surveillance shows the woman getting out of the room twice -- but Cleaves bringing her back inside. She says she suffered scrapes, bruises and was sore the next day.
"I was very emotional, crying, just wanted to be out of there," She said.
"Did you have an agreement with Mateen Cleaves to go to a motel?" She was asked.
"No," she said.
Mike Manley cross examined the woman after joining the defense team Tuesday -- pointing out she got close to Cleaves out at the bar that night before leaving with him. He doesn't believe the details add up.
"Do you remember ever telling him no?" Manley asked.
"No," she said.
"Inside the room at any time, did Mr. Cleaves use any physical force that you recall on you?" Manley asked.
"No," she said.
That woman's mother is expected to take the stand along with the responding officers and then the defense will get to call witnesses.
