The Detroit Free Press has reported that Michigan State's alumni director has stepped down due to being investigated by the Title IX office.

Westerman, an associate vice president for alumni relations and executive director of the MSU Almuni Association, said in a resignation letter that his leave will take effect July 31 and that he is moving to Florida to be closer to family.

The Free Press is also reporting that Bob Thomas will serve as interim director of the MSU Alumni Association while the school searches for a new executive director.

The Free Press spoke to Emily Guerrant, who confirmed that the school's Office of Institutional Equity received a complaint against Westerman on February 9. No other details were available.

The Office of Institutional Equity investigates discrimination, harassment, and violations of the school's Anti-Discrimination Policy and Policy on Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct.
