A Michigan woman has been sentenced to 18 to 36 years in prison in the 2016 beating death of her 4-year-old son.
The Flint Journal reports 35-year-old Jamia Robinson learned her punishment on Monday in Genesee County Circuit Court for the death of Jordyn Mathena. Robinson told the court it was "something I had no control over. God has a plan for all of us."
Robinson earlier pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and second-degree child abuse.
Prosecutors say the boy had severe burns, head trauma and a broken nose. Investigators were told he was pushed as he stepped into a bathtub in Flint. Robinson told investigators in 2016 that she upset with the boy's behavior and her head "went puffy" at the time he was injured.
