More adults are buying groceries with apps

LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - Apps that deliver groceries are rapidly increasing in popularity.

According to E-Marketer, the number of US adults who order groceries with an app, at least once a month, will increase by nearly 50% this year, compared to last.

By 2019, more than one in five adults will use an app to order groceries.

Analysts say shoppers are becoming more comfortable with ordering online in general, and grocery items are a part of that.

A key hurdle for on-line grocery shopping has traditionally been delivery time and shoppers' desire to hand select produce and meat.
