Moped driver critical after being hit by car in Clinton County

CLINTON COUNTY, Mich. - A man is in critical condition after the moped he was driving was rear-ended by a car in Clinton County Thursday morning.

The crash between Fowler and St. Johns happened on M-21 westbound between Wacousta and Bauer in Essex Township around 4 a.m.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says the moped was heading west on M-21 when a car also heading west on M-21 rear-ended the moped.

The moped with no lighting, was driven by a 22-year-old Fowler man. He is currently in critical condition at Sparrow Hospital.

The 30-year-old man from St. Johns was driving the car, he was treated for his injuries and released.

The crash had M-21 shutdown in both directions while crews investigated the crash for two hours.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says more information regarding the crash will be released later Thursday.
