Missing Texas woman's body recovered from lake in Hillsdale County

The body of a Texas woman who went swimming at Baw Beese Lake in Hillsdale County has been recovered after police agencies searched for nearly 24 hours.

Around 9:18 p.m. Wednesday, the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the missing swimmer, who has been identified at Tabitha Lynn Vear, 28, of Conroe, Texas, according to a press release from the department.

The sheriff’s department dive team responded to the scene to conduct a search for the swimmer. After searching Wednesday and Thursday, divers were able to locate the body in the largest portion of Baw Beese Lake.

The body was recovered from 65-feet of water at approximately 8:40 p.m. Thursday, states the press release.

Assisting on scene were the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Somerset Fire Department, Michigan state Police’s Dive Unit, Hillsdale City Police Department, K9 units from K9 One Search and Recovery and ISART.

The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the drowning.
