STOCKBRIDGE, Mich. — A dog that went missing months ago was reunited with its owner on Wednesday.
Sgt. Jeff Weiss with the Ingham County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security and Emergency Management responded to the call.
"Under the back deck was Clyde. And he was shaking and a little bit dirty, and I coaxed him out and he came right out."
Sgt. Weiss didn't know how long the beagle had been missing, but knew he had to get the pup warmed up... so he put him in the front seat of the patrol car.
"So I cranked the heat up and warmed him up... he was shaken," he said.
That's when Sgt. Weiss noticed the dog's collar with the owner's name and number.
"I called the owner, he answered, and his reaction was 'my dog?' and I said 'yeah, I got your dog.' and he said 'well yeah, I thought that dog was gone, its been missing since September.'"
Sgt. Weiss took Clyde to the address in Stockbridge to reunite the pair. It was only two miles away from where he was found. He said the owner was in disbelief but glad to see his dog.
Clyde was just happy to be home.
"You know, we're expecting to respond to cars in the ditch or crashes, and people getting hurt, so its great to respond to a call that has a good ending like this," Sgt. Weiss said.
The Sheriff's Office also credited the woman who made the call, saying because of her, Clyde and his owner were able to be reunited.
