Voters packed polling stations across Mid-Michigan early this morning.
FOX 47 News was at the precinct on South Washington Avenue in Lansing where a crowd started gathering around 6:30 a.m. When voting began at 7 a.m., the line of voters was out the door.
As the morning went on, the station remained busy but the crowd thinned by 8 a.m.
Big lines are being reported across the area.
Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope says the before work, lunch and after work rushes will be the busiest. The advice is to hit the polls mid-morning or mid-afternoon if you can.
Swope tells us that this year has been particularly busy, even compared to previous presidential elections. He says a lot of early ballots have been requested and returned.
