People have been reacting to the recent shooting shared on Facebook that left one elderly man dead, but what drives people to view these traumatic images on social media?

Dr. Michael Rogell who is a licensed psychologist in Lansing said it really just boils down to curiosity. People want to know, and see things that they think no one else has has seen.

The fact that it's so accessible to share on Facebook scares some people. One mom said soon people may confuse what's real with what's fake, which is something she doesn't want to expose her child to.

"A lot of times I feel like it's so many images whether it's actually in a movie or it's real life, we begin to desensitize to human life overall," Dominque Devereaux-Rosewood said.

Dr. Rogell also said seeing videos like these leave a lasting effect whether you notice right away or not.

"Right after 9/11 happened the news kept replaying it. The worst thing you can do is keep watching it. It just re-traumatizes you, so look away and distract,"he said.
