A Mid-Michigan girl battling a rare disease loses her fight. Olivia Kay Borodychuk of DeWitt died Friday at the age of 8.
She suffered from a rare form of Leukodystrophy called Alexander Disease.
"She has never had the opportunity to walk, has never had the opportunity to talk" said Olivia's mom Lisa.
But in her short eight years on this earth, Olivia made quite the impact here in Mid-Michigan and beyond.
Olivia's parents constantly worked to raise awareness about Leukodystrophy in various ways including holding community walks, fundraisers and a special pillow project.
The project began with Olivia's parents making her pillows so that she would be more comfortable. But the project really took off, and soon pillows of comfort were given to sick children at hospitals across the state.
A Celebration of Life service for Olivia will be held Wednesday at noon at Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt.
