LANSING, Mich. — Michigan's population is almost back above 10 million people.
New estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show Michigan's population was 9,995,915 as of July. This was the 7th straight year of population growth for the state. Though Michigan's population growth rate was only 0.2 percent (compared to the 0.6 percent national average), net migration was 4,649.
Michigan's population peaked in 2004 with 10,055,315 residents.
