The Detroit Lions trailed the whole game until less than 2 minutes remained, then beat the Chicago Bears 34-30 in their NFC North Division battle Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.

Kickoff took place at 1 p.m. The game was broadcast live on FOX 17.

After the Lions dismissed coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn last weekend, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was making his debut as Detroit’s interim skipper.

The Lions came into the fray with a 4-7 record while the Bears entered the proceedings at 5-6. Detroit was fresh off a 41-25 loss to the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day while Chicago has now dropped six straight contests after roaring out to a 5-1 start, including last Sunday’s identical 41-25 defeat by the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears were established as 4 1/2-point favorites.

They now lead the all-time series, which is the longest-running annual series in the NFL and dates all the way back to 1930, by a 102-75-5 margin over Detroit.

Next up for the Lions will be a home date with another longtime NFC North rival -- the Green Bay Packers. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. next Sunday at Ford Field.

Meanwhile, the Bears’ next outing will involve another homefield encounter – this time against the Houston Texans at Soldier Field next Sunday afternoon.
