LANSING, Mich. — Wednesday morning more than 1,000 seniors and advocates convened on the State Capitol Building to advocate on behalf of older adults.
The participants of this year's Older Michiganians Day were advocating for re-balancing medicaid spending to keep older adults in their own homes for as long as possible, increasing funding for Aging and Adult Services Agency In-Home Services and Home-Delivered Meals, supporting the Direct Care Workforce and finding solutions to help address the shortage of workers statewide, and promoting a dementia capable Michigan.
Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon addressed the group and leaders from both Michigan's House and Senate were in attendance.
During today's activities the Michigan Dementia Coalition unveiled the 2019 to 2022 Road Map for Creating a Dementia Capable Michigan.
