A proposal to raise the state's minimum wage is not going on the November ballot, at least not for now. The State Board of Canvassers vote just moments ago was a 2-2 tie. News 10's Marcus Dash explains.
The tie vote comes down to a technicality, some people who signed the petitions marked both a city and township for their residence. For example Lansing and Lansing Township. Two board members say that invalidated their signatures. Supporters of the proposal to raise the minimum wage plan to appeal the decision in court.
A proposal requiring some employers to offer paid sick time will be on the November ballot. The Board of Canvassers just certified the petition signatures by a 3-to-1 vote.
