24 Michigan National Guard soldiers have been deployed to Texas to help with the Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts. Lt. Col. Dawn Dancer tells wilx.com 3 helicopters left for Grand Prairie, Texas around 7 a.m. Thursday.
The unit will be working on evacuations and delivering items to the flood zone. They'll get their official orders when they arrive. One chopper and 6 of the soldiers are from the Lansing area. No end date has been set for their deployment.
