Michigan National Guard soldiers on their way to help with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts

24 Michigan National Guard soldiers have been deployed to Texas to help with the Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts. Lt. Col. Dawn Dancer tells 3 helicopters left for Grand Prairie, Texas around 7 a.m. Thursday.

The unit will be working on evacuations and delivering items to the flood zone. They'll get their official orders when they arrive. One chopper and 6 of the soldiers are from the Lansing area. No end date has been set for their deployment.
