Don't be startled if you see some low-flying military aircraft Tuesday.
The Michigan National Guard is conducting several test flights of its fighter and refueling aircraft from Selfridge Air National Guard Base Tuesday. The flights are taking place over the Detroit River, the downtown Detroit area, the capitol region of Lansing and the Mackinac Bridge in northern Michigan.
People in or near those areas may see or hear two or three different types of military aircraft flying at lower altitudes than typical, though still well within Federal Aviation Administration safety standards.
During these periods, or at any time, questions about local military flight operations may be directed to the Public Affairs office at Selfridge Air National Guard Base at (586) 239-5576.
