Michigan high school student facing assault related charges

Garrett Robert Brodeur, an 18-year-old Oxford High School student, is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in the school hallway on Tuesday, October 3.

When the assault occurred a School Administrator detained Brodeur and tried to escort him to the front office. At that time Brodeur punched the administrator in the chest with a closed fist.

OCSO Deputies arrive don scene not long after, and a uniformed Deputy tried to get the student to the front door of the school. Brodeur struggled with him and another Deputy. During that struggle Brodeur was able to get his hands on a Deputy's firearm that was secured in his holster. Brodeur managed to fire the gun, causing a bullet to hit the floor and ricochet into a nearby wall where it became lodged. No one was injured.

Brodeur was taken to a local hospital for pre-existing medical issues and cleared. He was then transported to the Oakland County Jail and lodged for multiple charges.

Garrett Robert Brodeur was arraigned Thursday at the 52nd District Court, 3rd Division Rochester Hills on the following charges:

· Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer – 5 year Felony
· Assault Resist/Obstruction – 2 year Felony and/or $2000.00
· Assault and Battery – 93 Day and /or $500.00 Misdemeanor

A probable cause hearing was set for October 16th at 1:15 p.m. as well as a preliminary hearing set for October 23rd at 1:15 p.m.
