He was responding to a domestic violence call with his partner when a man outside opened fire. Doss was hit while sitting in his patrol car and passed away a few days later.

Detroit Police Officer Darren Weathers was killed in a car accident during a training exercise on February 13, 2018.

Weathers was hit by another vehicle and the force sent his patrol car crashing in to a metal barrier.

Officer Weathers served in the United States Army and in the Michigan National Guard before he joined Detroit police in 2016.
