The Michigan Attorney General's Office is now getting involved in a controversial custody case.

The Detroit news reports Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette filed a motion to intervene in the custody case where a convicted rapist was given joint custody of his child.

There will be a special hearing for the case on Tuesday in front of a Sanilac county judge.

The attorney general is asking that Christopher Mirasalo not be given joint custody and parental rights.

The child was conceived when Mirasalo raped the mother.
