The Michigan Attorney General's office will now decide whether criminal charges will be filed against Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand.
Detectives with the Michigan State Police met with the A.G.'s office Wednesday to go over their investigation into an allegation of misappropriation of funds by Sheriff Rand.
The Sheriff told FOX 47 last week he is confident prosecutors will find the claims to be without merit.
This investigation is not related to Rand's derogatory comments about women and minorities. The Sheriff admitted to making those comments which were captured on audio tapes.
