LANSING, Mich. — Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) announced today that its board of directors has appointed Michelle Lantz as CEO, effective September 9, 2019. She succeeds Joe Wald, who retired from GLFB in June.
“I am honored to serve the organization as its next CEO,” commented Lantz. “The food bank creates a foundation of health and sustainability for thousands of families in mid-Michigan through its distribution of nutritious food. It’s thrilling to be involved at this point in its history as we work to enhance collaborations and optimize the systems in our seven-county region.”
Lantz previously held the position of senior vice president of Donor and Public Relations at the Capital Area United Way in Lansing. Her career began at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce as director of Communications. Additionally, she founded and operated Lantz Communications for 12 years, a public relations and fund development consultancy. She served in staff and volunteer roles for Care Free Medical & Dental and St. Michael Parish School in Grand Ledge. Lantz volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lansing and Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan and is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of Lansing and a former board member of its foundation.
Lantz received her master’s degree in Public Relations and bachelor’s in Communications from Michigan State University. She holds an accreditation in public relations through the Public Relations Society of America and served as chair of numerous national, regional and local boards and committees of the society during her 25- year career.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Michelle Lantz’s caliber and experience lead Greater Lansing Food Bank in its efforts to combat hunger in our communities,” said Leslie Brogan, GLFB Board Chair. “She is a strong communicator with proven leadership capabilities and a deep passion to serve those in need. We are excited and pleased to welcome her into the food bank family.”
