More than 1,000 soldiers with the Michigan Army National Guard are getting ready to help in Florida, with some leaving from Grand Ledge Monday morning.

About 60 soldiers in aviation maintenance will be leaving from the Grand Ledge base. Once in Florida they'll be working on helicopters, which are a key part of relief efforts. The unit, is one a few in the country dedicated to aircraft maintenance.
