A new fire chief will soon be on the job in Meridian Township.

“I feel very blessed and honored to be offered the job. I am very excited to be joining this well organized and professional team,” said Mike Hamel. “I look forward to bringing the department to the next level,” stated Mike Hamel.

Mike Hamel brings 25 years of fire service experience to the township. He previously filled the role of Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations Manager for the Lansing Board of Water and Light after serving with the Lansing Fire Department from 1992-2016.
