Some homeowners in Meridian Township will be getting an extra layer of protection, thanks to a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Association.
The Meridian Township Fire Department is scheduling free installations of new combination smoke and CO alarms.
The department received $66,000 earlier this year to purchase and install 2,500 alarms.
Only Meridian Township residents can request the alarms. Installations are not available for rental properties.
