Memorial service to be held Monday to honor fallen law enforcement officers

Candles will be lit at the State Capitol in Lansing Monday night in honor of Michigan law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

The annual 'Michigan Peace Officer's Candlelight Memorial Service' pays tribute to all officers killed or injured on the job.

Nine officers will be honored Monday night with a police officer processional along Michigan Avenue starting at 6:30 p.m.

A candlelight memorial service will follow that at 7 p.m.

The ceremony this will honor the following officers:

-Officer Ryan Keith Settlemoir - Madison Heights Police Department, who died on June 12, 2009.

-Special Agent Rickey O'Donald - Federal Bureau of Investigations, Florida, who died on February 17, 2017.

-Officer Jonathan William Raymond Ginka -Norton Shores Police Department, who died on May 10, 2017.

-Corrections Officer Thomas C. Bunker - Otsego County Sheriff's Office, who died on June 17, 2017.

-Trooper Timothy James O'Neill - Michigan State Police, who died on September 20, 2017.

-Deputy Sheriff Eric Brian Overall - Oakland County Sheriff's Office, who died on November 23, 2017.

-Officer Donald O Kimbrough - Detroit Police Department, who died on December 7, 2017. Officer Kimbrough was shot by a suspect in 1972. The shooting left Detroit Police Officer Donald Kimbrough paralyzed from the waist down and he died from medical complications that resulted from the decades-old shooting.

-Officer Glenn Anthony Doss Jr. - Detroit Police Department , who died on January 28, 2018.

-Officer Darren Maurice Weathers - Detroit Police Department, who died on February 13, 2018.
