A community meeting is scheduled in Jackson Thursday night to discuss the rash of violence in the city.

Six people have been murdered in or near Jackson since July. Police have also responded to numerous reports of shots fired in the city over the past few weeks including early Sunday morning when a house on High Street was shot up.

Community members are fed up with the violence. Leaders Lee Hampton and others are holding a community meeting Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center located at 1107 Adrian Street. Local Law Enforcement agencies are expected to attend.
