LANSING, Mich. — By this time 10 days from now, Spartan stadium will be surrounded by tailgaters, but on Monday night, fans got the opportunity to meet their favorite team in the 17th annual "Meet the Spartans" event.
FOX 47's Seth Wells was at the event and said fans got a chance to meet with the team and head coach mark Dantonio as well as get autographs on the concourse.
For quarterback Brian Lewerke, this was his final time taking part in the event.
"I didn't really know what it was when I first came here and just being able to go through it five times now. It's good just to um you know, give people encouragement and to be able to bring life to some people in the community, so it's a fun time," Lewerke said.
In addition to meeting the team, fans got the opportunity to go down to the field and visit the press box.
The Spartans will kick of their season with a home game against Tulsa on Friday, Aug. 30.
