"Meals on Wheels," more than delivering food

"Meals On Wheels" is having a hard time keeping up with the demand for its services. Monday, it invited local state lawmakers along for the ride.

The idea is to get the word out that's there more to it than just taking food to seniors.

Organizers tell us it's also about addressing the needs of people who are isolated or have lost their independence.

The typical person served is age seventy five or older and lives alone. Two-thirds of them are women.

State Representative Andy Schor showed up for the ride along.

State reps Tom Cochrane and Tom Leonard also planned to meet with volunteers.
