MDOT has put out the list of this year's major road construction projects and some of them will be pretty inconvenient for drivers in Mid-Michigan.

  • The big one is on US-127. Starting in May crews will be resurfacing 17 miles of the highway between Henry Road in Jackson County and M-36 near Mason. Traffic will be down one lane in each direction until September.
  • There will once again be work on I-94 west of Jackson. MDOT will be patching concrete on nearly 7.5 miles of the highway just west of Michigan Avenue in Parma all the way to M-60. There will be lane closures starting in May and ending in August.
  • Crews will be reconstructing a stretch of the I-94 business loop in Jackson. One lane will be open in each direction of Michigan Avenue from Brown Street to Louis Glick Highway - Washington Avenue split.
  • They will also be upgrading Michigan Ave. for two-way traffic from the split to Cooper Street. That project is scheduled to run from April to November.
  • East of Jackson MDOT will be resurfacing 6 miles of M-50 from US-127 to Napoleon Road. That's scheduled to last from April to October.
