Lansing could start demolishing the Life O'Riley trailer park this week if it gets approval from an Ingham County Circuit Court judge. The city is asking Judge Clinton Canady III to rule that it has given the owners of the abandoned park enough time to clean it up. The city plans to hire a demolition contractor Thursday if the judge agrees.
The Ingham County Health Department shut down Life O'Riley in February of 2014 because of numerous code violations. The state gave suspended the license of owner Whalen Holdings LLC. It revoked the owner's license last year.
Neighbors have been complaining about the eyesore since the tenants were ordered to leave. Judge Canady gave the city permission to conduct an environmental review last September. Wednesday's decision could be the first step in finally clearing the land.
