Mayor announces plans for re-branding, economic development in State of the City Address

LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Mayor Andy Schor delivered his state of the city address Wednesday night, reflecting on accomplishments during his first year in office and what's to come in the future.

In Mayor Schor's second state of the city address some of the biggest topics covered were infrastructure economic development and a plan to re-brand the city of Lansing.

Mayor Andy Schor's first 13 months in office were met with highs and lows.

Starting off with a major flood and a public housing fire.

The year closed with a new professional soccer team, a new logo and almost one-billion-dollars in private investments.

Mayor Schor is focused on creating a fresh design for Downtown Lansing with plans for a new Meijer apartments and a hotel.

The mayor also expects to launch a parking app for smart phones, while working on six two-way street conversions that will be complete in 18 months.

Mayor Schor says he wants to build a sustainable city where people work, play and raise families.

There’s also a plan to attract and retain residents through art projects and neighborhood improvements.

During the address the mayor announced that the city filled over 5,000 potholes to help improve the city’s infrastructure.

He also stated that violent crime is down by 14 percent.
