The Allen Neighborhood Center and the Greater Lansing Food Bank played matchmaker Sunday in honor of Valentine's Day.
They invited 13 local farmers to a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair.
It was all to put the farmers directly in touch with local customers.
Around 300 adults were there, organizers say.
"Honestly, this event has gone totally above and beyond what we were expecting," said Jill Plesko of the Greater Lansing Food Bank. "The community has really shown that they're really interested in this sort of system."
People who bought CSA shares Sunday will regularly get boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables grown right here in mid-Michigan. In exchange, organizers say, the up-front payments help farmers budget.
