Voters in the Mason school district will have to decide if they want to raise their property taxes to pay for a $69.7 million bond. The school board voted Monday night to put the bond on the November 7 ballot.

The district formed a School Study Committee after the defeat of a bond in May of 2016. The Committee spent 10 months coming up with a list of projects and improvements that the bond would pay for. The list includes security, HVAC and interior improvements for Alaiedon Elementary; North Aurelius Elementary; Steele Elementary; James C. Harvey Education Center/Cedar Street Elementary, Mason Middle School and Mason High School.

If passed, the district would levy 2.86 mills to pay for the bond. That would raise property taxes $2.86 per thousand dollars of taxable value. The annual tax bill would go up $286 for a home with a taxable value of $100,000.
