Martin guilty in connection to shooting outside strip club

JACKSON, Mich. — A Jackson man has been convicted in a shooting that happened last year outside of a city lounge and strip club.

Leandrew Martin was found guilty Tuesday on charges stemming from the July 2018 shooting where another man was hurt.

Surveillance cameras captured Martin opening fire on a group of people during a fight behind Kingston's Lounge on July 22nd.

One man was shot in the foot but wasn't seriously injured.

Martin, 40, was found guilty of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Felon, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Unlawful Intent, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and four counts of Felony Firearm.

According to the prosecutor's office, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in the Department of Corrections. Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Felon, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Unlawful Intent, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon all carry a maximum penalty of 5 years. Felony Firearm carries a mandatory 2 years in the Department of Corrections.

Martin is a habitual offender and will be sentenced to at least 25 years in prison when he's back in court next month.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 20, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. before Circuit Court Judge Susan B. Jordan.
