Posted

Building on the momentum of previous contributions to the riverfront, Gillespie Group kick-started a new era of energy for the city with the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Marketplace Phase II apartments and MP Social.

At the ceremony, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and Gillespie Group President, Pat Gillespie, spoke to the impact each development has had on the community. From its inception, the inspiration behind MP Social was to bring conversation, upbeat ambiance and quality plates and drinks to the Lansing community, while the new phase of Marketplace apartments expanded residents’ access to one-of-a-kind living experiences in the heart of downtown.

Since opening in March, Marketplace Phase II is 98 percent leased while MP Social’s “March to your own Beet” margarita took top honors at the 2018 Margarita Fest, cementing the developments’ place in the community as lasting fixtures to what can be accomplished through revitalization.

“Through MP Social and Marketplace Phase II we have worked with the city to energize its core in new ways and bring more than just new residential options downtown. We’ve worked to create spaces that cater to the lifestyles of those that want to live here and create opportunities for people to connect,” Gillespie said.

Following the formal ceremony, community members relaxed and socialized while enjoying the downtown riverfront views from MP Social and explored the trend-setting Marketplace apartments and amenities including a dog washing station, fitness center and a rooftop patio overlooking the river.

“Lansing’s time is now. Developments like this help to set a new standard for the Lansing community. I am excited to see what else we can accomplish together, as strong community partners, with this vision in mind,” Schor said.

Marketplace apartments are currently available for lease and the casual eatery MP Social is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. The restaurant is centrally located on the Grand River at 313 N. Cedar St., inside of the second phase of Marketplace apartments.
