MID-MICHIGAN (WSYM) - It was a lucky day for many of our four legged friends at animal shelters across the state of Michigan as they were adopted into new homes.
It was all part of Bissell’s “Empty the Shelters Day” held Saturday.
All adoptions were free thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation.
Those who choose to take a pet home were also given a box full of supplies.
Dog owners just had to pay for license.
Adoptions days like this couldn’t of had come at a better time for the Ingham County Animal Shelter.
“Especially at this point, at the end of summer and fall started, we're still really full,” said Kate Turner, Customer Service and Community Outreach at the Ingham County Animal Shelter. “With Bissell Pet Foundation hosting this type of event, we're really able to clear out our shelter as much as we can and really get some breathing room."
Eight dogs and 17 cats were adopted from the Ingham County Animal Shelter Saturday.
At the Cascades Humane Society in Jackson County, 18 cats and 23 dogs were adopted.
The Ingham County Animal Shelter is located at 600 Curtis Street in Mason.
