Ingham County sheriff deputies were assisting Child Protective Services workers in a welfare check on a child Friday when deputies discovered stolen handguns inside the home.
Deputies found a total of five guns inside 37-year-old Kevin Wells’ home in the 500 block of Fitchburg Road in Bunkerhill Township.
Two handguns were stolen and another gun had the serial number filed off.
Wells was arraigned Sunday.
The child was not at the home at the time of the welfare check.
CPS workers were called to the home, following up with a student from Leslie where a threat of violence was reported late last week.
Wells was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and a felon in possession of a firearm.
Bond was set at $11,000.
Wells is due back in court on June 14th, 2018 in front of Judge Allen at the 55th District Court.
The Sheriff's Office has notified the Leslie Police Department and the Leslie School District with the findings of this investigation in the event it would assist them in their own investigations.
