A Jackson man charged with causing a crash that killed a 3-year-old girl is heading to trial with a murder trial added to his case.

A judge ruled Wednesday there's enough evidence to send 19-year-old Kingston Skrzynski to trial on second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death and operating while intoxicated causing death.

He was originally charged with reckless driving causing death and operating while intoxicated causing death.

Investigations say Skrzynski was speeding on the shoulder and passing vehicles of U.S. 127 in Liberty Township on August 26, 2018, when he rear-ended a van that was backing out of a private drive on Meridian Road.

The van rolled several times and a three-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead later at a hospital. Several people were injured in the accident, but all have since recovered.

Second-degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison. Reckless driving causing death and operating while intoxicated causing death are both punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
