SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. — The man accused of shooting Saginaw Township Officer Jeff Koenig last month is scheduled to be formally charged in the shooting Tuesday.
29-year-old Joshua Rosebush is expected to arraigned in Saginaw County District Court on charges of assault with intent to murder a police officer and several other felonies. He could face up to life in prison if convicted.
Rosebush is being held at the Woodland Center Correctional facility for violating his parole.
Police say Rosebush shot Officer Koenig in the face during a traffic stop on Tittabawassee Road early on the morning of Jan. 22. Rosebush was allegedly was driving a stolen pickup truck at the time the shooting occurred.
Investigators believe Rosebush engaged in a three-county crime spree while on the run for 11 hours that day, stealing two more vehicles. A Shiawassee County sheriff detective arrested him after a brief shootout around 1 p.m.
Officer Koenig has been recovering at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He underwent at least one surgery and had his jaw wired shut.
Doctors have said he will need more surgeries and he'll be in the hospital for quite some time.
