Man shot in leg in Jackson drives himself to hospital

Police were called to a scene of a shooting in Jackson just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning but when they arrived, the victim had driven himself to the hospital.

It happened at 12:48 a.m. on the 1000 block of Cypress.

The victim is a 25-year-old Jackson man who says he was shot while sitting in his car.

Police told FOX 47 that the man and his friend where driving around when they stopped to talk to some women. The man's friend got out of the car and one of the ladies got in.

Then a gray, Jeep SUV drove up and shot 4-6 rounds into the car, and kept going.

The man shot was in the driver's seat and struck once through the door in his leg. The car was struck three times. He drove immediately to the hospital.

Police say they have not located the shooter or the Jeep SUV.

The victim and his friends told police that they don't know why they were shot at.
