Man shot in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. — A 25-year-old man was shot in the stomach early Tuesday morning. Michigan State Police say it happened at about 4:30 A.M. in the 5000 block of Welch Lake Road in Jackson County's Waterloo Township.

The victim was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospital with life threatening injuries. Troopers tell Fox 47 that witnesses identified the suspect that fled the scene.

Officers from Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department located the suspect's vehicle in the 3000 block of Seymour Road. The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team came and took the 28-year-old suspect into custody without further incident.

State Police say they expect the suspect to be changed with numerous felonies. No names have been released.
