A man who scammed investors out of more than $330,000 through his house-flipping business will spend between 5 and 10 years in prison.

Ingham County Circuit Court Judge James Jamo sentenced Eric Byrnes on Wednesday. Prosecutors say Byrnes approached his victims by promising a quick turnaround and a large interest payment for their investment.

The money was put to personal use instead of into houses. State Police as well as the Lansing and Meridian Township police departments started investigating Byrnes in September of 2015.

He was arrested in March of this year and eventually pleaded guilty to 3 counts of Larceny False Pretense.

In addition to the prison term Byrnes was ordered to pay restitution of $336,005.98.
