A man is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday after he confessed to killing a man in Lansing a year ago.
Brandon Addiss pleaded guiltyto second-degree murder in the stabbing death of John Darnell Jr.
Darnell Jr. was found in a creek near Scott Woods Park in October 2017.
Addiss' plea deal states he'll get at least 40 years in prison.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in Ingham County Circuit Court by Hon. Joyce Draganchuk at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
After his arrest, police received a call from Amber Kohls' father. He informed police that Kohls confessed to committing a homicide that she, Addiss and Matthew Green were involved with. Green and Kohls told her father that they had committed the murder in self-defense, and had hidden the body.
Kohls indicated to police that she was involved in Darnell's murder. Green claimed he was involved only in disposing of the body.
Green was sentenced to 18 to 60 months in prison for accessory after the fact to murder on Aug. 8, according to the prosecutor's office.
Kohls is currently awaiting trial on an open murder charge.
