Man killed in fiery crash

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (WSYM) - Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fiery car crash that left on man dead.

It happened Friday, July 14 around 11:20 p.m in the 2100 block of 9 Mile Road just outside of Burlington. One car was involved in the crash. When officers arrived on scene the vehicle was partially engulfed in flames. A man was found inside the car, he was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to investigators speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash. They believe the driver was speeding when they left the roadway, striking a tree and partially ejecting the driver. The car then caught fire.

The driver's name has not been released. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
